Antique Bakshaish Persian Knotted Hallway Runner Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional Persian piece originates from the Heriz region, renowned for producing durable and highly graphic antique rugs. The Bakshaish style, distinct from its Heriz neighbors, often features a more spacious and tribal interpretation of classical motifs, lending it a unique, transitional aesthetic highly valued by collectors. The palette is grounded in natural dyes, utilizing a rich field of oxidized olive and deep terracotta. The foundation colors create a striking earth tone color scheme, punctuated by accents of saturated indigo and subtle ivory highlights within the geometric medallions and stylized palmettes. The wool quality is superb, exhibiting the characteristic sheen and durability expected of late 19th-century weaving.
