Antique Tapestry Square Small Scatter Size Wool Multicolor, Circa Date: 1900s. This exquisite piece is a fine example of a woven tapestry, depicting a pastoral Rococo scene rendered in soft wool fibers. Its square composition captures a moment of leisure, characteristic of 18th-century European sensibilities, translated into a portable textile art form suitable for display. The nuanced palette utilizes earthy browns, soft creams, and muted greens, punctuated by highlights of rose and gold, creating a rich multicolor jewel tone effect. The detail in the figures and the surrounding landscape—including classical ruins and distant architecture—demonstrates remarkable skill in the weaving process, echoing the quality found in high-end antique rugs. A delicate border frames the central vignette, featuring repeating floral rugs motifs that soften the overall presentation.
