Antique Square Sarouk - Farahan Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional square example of late 19th-century weaving hails from the Farahan district, renowned for producing some of the most sophisticated antique rugs of the Qajar Dynasty. The composition features a highly detailed, all-over lattice design, characteristic of the region's refined aesthetic. The field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo, creating a dramatic backdrop for the complex array of stylized palmettes and geometric blossoms. The use of natural dyes ensures a magnificent depth of color, particularly evident in the finest blue color rugs that define the Persian production of this era, complemented here by accents of ivory, ochre, and pale sage.
