Antique Sultanabad Persian Floral, Medallion Knotted Square Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional example of late 19th-century weaving from the Arak region represents the pinnacle of Iranian Persian rugs production, characterized by its robust structure and sophisticated use of classical design elements in a rare square format. The palette is immediately arresting, featuring a field of saturated terracotta and burnt orange that dramatically frames a central, highly detailed medallion rendered in deep indigo blue. The judicious use of saffron and ivory highlights the intricate floral and vine work, creating a vibrant, warm composition highly sought after among orange color rugs. This square piece offers a unique symmetry that enhances its visual impact.
