$3,900.00

Antique Chinese - Ningxia Chinese Blue 1900s Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exquisite square example of Chinese weaving tradition showcases the distinct aesthetic of Ningxia pieces from the early 20th century. The foundation is saturated in a profound indigo, characteristic of the finest blue color rugs from this region, providing a dramatic backdrop for the stylized motifs. The field employs a dense, repeating allover pattern composed of stylized cloud bands and small, repeating geometric floral elements. These motifs are rendered in contrasting cream and subtle red accents, floating against the deep blue ground, reflecting traditional Chinese symbolism focused on longevity and prosperity and demonstrating the weaver's precise command of scale. Structurally, the piece is defined by its highly articulated border system, featuring multiple guard stripes that frame the central design.
