Antique Malayer Persian Brown 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional square piece represents the enduring quality of Persian village weaving. Malayer rugs, known for their durable construction and complex designs, are highly sought after by collectors of antique rugs. This specific example showcases a rich, dark field characteristic of the era and the high knot count typical of this region's finest output. The primary palette is grounded in deep, saturated hues. The field utilizes a dense, almost black-brown tone, which provides a dramatic contrast to the terracotta reds, rust, and soft sky blues used in the central motifs. This masterful use of natural dyes creates a sophisticated depth in this square rug, making it a superb example of brown earth tone color rugs. The secondary border, featuring ivory accents and repeating geometric forms, lightens the overall composition.
