Antique Peking Chinese Allover Floral Beige 1920s Square Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional square piece exemplifies the sophisticated design movement of early 20th-century Chinese weaving, blending traditional motifs with the emerging Art Deco sensibility. The stark contrast between the deep, saturated indigo field and the expansive, luminous border creates a dramatic focal point, characteristic of the finest antique rugs from this period. The central field is rendered in a rich, almost midnight blue, providing a stunning backdrop for the delicate trailing vines and blossoms that emerge from the corners. This deep hue is expertly balanced by the surrounding ivory and beige tones of the primary border, which lend an air of lightness and refinement to the composition in a square format.
