Antique Square Blue Persian Bibikabad Rug with Allover Tribal Floral Pattern

$37,500.00

Antique Bibikabad Persian Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional square example of 19th-century weaving from Western Persia represents the pinnacle of village production. Its saturated palette and dense knotting mark it as a superior piece among antique rugs. The primary field is dominated by a deep indigo ground, creating a dramatic contrast for the complex array of stylized palmettes and rosettes. The rich, almost midnight hue places this piece among the finest blue color rugs available from the period, accented by tones of apricot, sage, and ivory. Characteristic of the Bibikabad style, the design employs a dense, repeating network of abstracted botanical forms. This structure ensures that the visual interest is maintained across the entire square surface, presenting a highly decorative allover rugs pattern that avoids the use of a central medallion.
