Antique Shawl Indian Red 1925 Square Rug, Circa Date: 1925. This exceptional textile piece is a rare example of a woven floor covering inspired by traditional Kashmiri needlework. It represents a fascinating cross-pollination of weaving traditions, offering collectors a unique addition to their collection of antique rugs. The composition is defined by a striking, expansive field of saturated red, providing a dramatic counterpoint to the densely patterned frame. The border itself is a masterpiece of shading, utilizing a rich palette characteristic of red rugs, lending the piece remarkable depth and visual texture. Characteristic of the shawl style, the primary border is saturated with finely detailed boteh (paisley) forms, meticulously rendered in complex repeating rows.
