Antique Shawl Indian 1925 Square Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1925. This exceptional textile, dating from the early 20th century, represents a unique convergence of traditional Indian weaving and minimalist aesthetic principles in a versatile square format. Its status as an antique rug elevates it beyond mere floor covering to a piece of textile history. The muted, earthy palette—a sophisticated blend of khaki, olive, and soft gray—highlights the organic texture rather than relying on complex coloration. This restrained approach is characteristic of certain high-quality Indian rugs, where the focus is placed squarely on the integrity of the material and the weave structure. The design features a densely packed, repeating checkerboard motif that covers the entire field.
