Antique Serab Room Size Wool Camel Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century Persian Serab exemplifies the finest weaving traditions of the Caucasus border region. The use of undyed, natural camel hair wool in the expansive field is characteristic of the area's most sought-after pieces, providing a soft, luminous ground. The design is anchored by a striking, elongated central medallion and pendant structure, rendered in deep indigo and rust tones. This bold motif is framed by sharp, stepped spandrels filled with intricate tribal and stylized botanical elements. Given its generous proportions, this piece is classified as a true room size rug, ideal for defining a sophisticated living space. The palette is masterfully restrained, relying on the juxtaposition of the rich, saturated navy and madder reds against the natural, earthy tones of the field.
