Antique Serab Persian Geometric Knotted Square Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century example originates from the Serab region of Azerbaijan, renowned for producing durable, finely knotted tribal textiles. It represents the robust tradition of Iranian / Persian rugs crafted by nomadic and semi-nomadic weavers who prioritized bold, stylized motifs over courtly refinement. The field features a complex, repeating lattice structure filled with stylized, totemic figures and medallions, characteristic of traditional geometric patterns. The overall effect is striking, utilizing a warm palette of madder red, deep indigo, and ochre set against a luminous ivory and beige field.
