Antique Senneh Square Room Size Wool Dark Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century weaving hails from the Kurdish region, renowned for producing some of the finest, most tightly knotted Iranian / Persian rugs. The sophisticated palette features a deep indigo field contrasted by rich rust and terracotta tones, defining its status as a true piece of history. The central field is dominated by a meticulous, repeating pattern—a characteristic known as an allover design. Unlike medallion carpets, this dense, continuous motif ensures visual balance across the entire surface, drawing the eye into the intricate detail work typical of Senneh craftsmanship. The quality of the wool and the tight weave contribute significantly to the rug's remarkable preservation.
