Antique 1900s Chinese Small Scatter Size Knotted - Peking Wool Ivory Rectangle Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional piece of Peking weaving represents the early 20th-century shift in Chinese textile art. Its small scatter size makes it a versatile accent, perfect for adding historical depth to intimate spaces or hallways. Woven from luxurious Peking wool, the rug features a serene landscape rendered primarily in an ivory color palette, complemented by rich, contrasting accents of deep indigo and earthy taupe. This restrained use of color highlights the masterful composition and the soft luster characteristic of the antique wool pile. The design is highly pictorial, depicting a pastoral scene of oxen traversing rolling hills near a stylized village structure.
