Antique Sarouk Large Room Size Wool Blue Navy Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1920s. This magnificent example of early 20th-century weaving tradition showcases the technical mastery characteristic of Iranian / Persian rugs. The deep, saturated field, typical of the Sarouk style, provides a dramatic backdrop for the intricate design elements. The central ground is rendered in a profound navy blue, bordering on black, which enhances the vibrancy of the secondary colors. This rich field color is highly sought after in blue color rugs, offering depth and formality to any interior space. Accents of terracotta, soft salmon, and pale ivory create a striking contrast, illuminating the dense pattern work. A continuous, all-over pattern of gracefully meandering vines and palmettes defines the composition.
