Antique Rich Red Turkmen Tekke Tribal 1880's Central Asian Square Rug

Antique Turkmaan - Tekke Caucasus Red 1880s Square Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of tekke weaving represents the finest nomadic artistry produced in the late 19th century. As one of our premier antique rugs, this square piece showcases the rigorous geometry and masterful dyeing techniques characteristic of the Turkmaan tribes. The field is dominated by the classic Tekke *gul*, a repeated octagonal motif rendered in contrasting accents against a rich, saturated red ground. This dense, repeating structure creates a powerful visual rhythm typical of an allover design, demanding close inspection of the intricate internal detailing of each medallion within the square format. The primary palette is defined by a striking, mature red, expertly aged to a deep, rich tone.
