Antique Tabriz Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: Iran Persia, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional late 19th-century example showcases the refined artistry characteristic of Tabriz rugs. The city of Tabriz, a major center for weaving, often produced pieces with sophisticated classical designs, blending precise knotting with complex iconography. The field is dominated by a rich, aged red hue, serving as the backdrop for a stylized Tree of Life motif emerging from an elegant urn. This central iconography, rendered in contrasting indigo and warm gold tones, is framed by a pointed arch, suggesting a traditional Mihrab composition. Such detailed pictorial weaving is a hallmark of premium Iranian Persian rugs. The multiple, complex borders feature intricate scrolling vine and palmette patterns, providing a dense visual frame that contrasts sharply with the open field.
