Antique Chinese Chinese - Art Deco Red 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the transition between traditional Eastern motifs and the streamlined aesthetics of the Jazz Age. The piece is a superb addition to any collection of antique rugs. The striking color composition is defined by a saturated, expansive field of rich Red, often referred to as 'Chinese Red,' which provides a dramatic backdrop for the delicate flora. This vibrant hue places it among the most sought-after red color rugs from the period. The main field is framed by a broad border of muted, dusty sage green, creating a sophisticated contrast typical of the era. The design utilizes negative space masterfully, allowing the eye to appreciate the individual elements scattered across the expansive field.
