Antique American Multicolor Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 78 x 79 inches (6'6" x 6'7"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The composition is dominated by a striking central star motif, executed through precise diamond and triangular piecing within its square frame. This masterful use of highly detailed geometric patterns creates a dazzling optical effect, radiating outward against the muted olive field. The palette is vibrant yet softened by age, featuring a sophisticated blend of pinks, golds, blues, and reds, qualifying it as a true multicolor jewel tone piece.
