Antique American Square Multicolor Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 70 x 76 inches (5'10" x 6'4"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. This highly structured allover pattern is composed of interlocking diamond blocks, each filled with distinct secondary motifsāranging from subtle checks and polka dots to delicate floral sprigs. The palette is wonderfully faded, featuring muted salmon pinks, soft butter yellows, and creamy neutrals, all outlined by thin lines of warm brown. Condition: Good.
