Antique American Red 1920s Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 69 x 72 inches (5'9" x 6'). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The design employs a striking juxtaposition of solid, quilted red panels and densely printed floral sections. The repeating motif within the patterned stripes creates an effective allover structure, lending the piece a lively, yet balanced visual rhythm perfectly suited for contemporary interiors seeking historical depth. Defined by its saturated red ground, the piece utilizes a rich spectrum of red tones in the printed sections, qualifying it as one of the exceptional red jewel tone textiles. Condition: Good.
