Antique American Floral Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 43 x 45 inches (3'7" x 3'9"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The palette is defined by a serene, faded sky blue color textiles background, which provides a cooling counterpoint to the vibrant, stylized floral motifs. The subtle fading and inherent texture enhance the vintage appeal of this delightful piece. Structurally, the square design is organized into four quadrants, each featuring a dynamically crossed pair of tulips, creating a sense of balanced movement. Small clusters of red berries or buds fill the interstitial spaces, bordered by a simple, thin green stripe.
