Antique Purple Ningxia Chinese Allover Knotted Carpet, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century Chinese weaving presents a dramatic and highly saturated aesthetic, centered on a field of rich, imperial purple. The intense hue of the main ground, rarely seen in such purity, elevates this piece far beyond typical examples of its type, placing it among the most striking purple color rugs of the period. The design is dominated by four powerful, stylized dragons rendered in deep blue and white, which twist and turn across the vibrant expanse. These mythical beasts are interspersed with stylized symbols and delicate floating cloud band motifs, signifying celestial power and good fortune, characteristic of high-status court commissions.
