Antique Bijar Small Scatter Size Wool Coral Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exemplary piece represents the robust weaving tradition of the Kurdish region, specifically the highly sought-after bijar style, known for its dense pile and remarkable longevity, often earning them the nickname "iron rugs." The composition centers on a dramatic, stepped medallion set against a field of rich coral. The highly stylized, minor elements surrounding the central motif demonstrate the tribal mastery of geometric rugs patterns, while the practical small scatter size allows this historic textile to anchor a variety of intimate spaces. A sophisticated palette defines this textile, utilizing deep indigo, rich oxblood red, and accents of coral, pale gold and ivory.
