Antique Bakshaish Persian Blue 1890s Hallway Runner Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional example of a late 19th-century Bakshaish piece showcases the robust weaving tradition of Northwest Persia. Its enduring quality makes it a highly sought-after collectible among discerning buyers of antique rugs. The field is dominated by a deep indigo ground, providing a sophisticated backdrop for the stylized palmettes and curvilinear vines rendered in rust, terracotta, and soft lavender. This masterful use of oxidized dyes lends a saturated, yet soft, patina characteristic of the finest blue color rugs. Woven in a narrow, elongated format, this piece is ideally suited for transitional spaces where length is prioritized over width, such as long corridors or entryways. Its robust structure and dense knotting confirm its suitability as one of the finest examples of hallway runner rugs.
