A mid-20th-century nearly square Persian rustic Bakhtiari carpet from around 1940, measuring approximately 457.4 × 487.9 cm (about 15'0" × 16'0") — a room-format proportion piece well suited to formal dining and large living rooms. The composition pairs a deep black field with a teal-blue border — an unusually dark and sophisticated color register for a Bakhtiari piece of this scale. Bakhtiari rugs come from the territory of the Bakhtiari nomadic confederation in the Zagros mountains of southwestern Persia (Iran). Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
