Antique Peking Room Size Wool Yellow Rug, Circa Date: 1875. This exceptional Chinese textile, dating from the late Qing Dynasty, exemplifies the refined aesthetic of Peking court weaving. Its generous dimensions classify it as a true room size rug, providing a dramatic, expansive field characteristic of the period's preference for open compositions. The primary palette is dominated by a vibrant yellow hue, beautifully complemented by subtle tonal variations. The sophisticated use of yellow tones in the borders and central cartouche provides essential contrast, softening the overall visual impact and highlighting the precision of the knotting. The design features an elegant, sparsely populated field centered around a circular medallion containing stylized water and flora.
