Antique Peking Room Size Wool Blue Red Rug

Antique Peking Room Size Wool Blue, Red Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exquisite example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving captures the opulent aesthetic favored by Western markets. The generous dimensions classify it as a true room size rug, making it an ideal centerpiece for a formal salon or dining area where its presence can be fully appreciated. The palette is defined by a deep, saturated indigo field—a classic characteristic of high-quality Chinese production—which provides a dramatic backdrop for the delicate floral motifs. The intense saturation of the primary shade places it among the finest examples of blue color rugs, beautifully offset by the vibrant, warm salmon-red of the main border, creating a striking visual tension.
