Antique Peking Room Size Wool Blue, Gray Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving presents a refined, muted palette dominated by soft gray and subtle blue tones, characteristic of the period's aesthetic shift. Its generous dimensions classify it as a true room size piece, ideal for anchoring a formal living space or dining area. Woven in Chinese rugs workshops during the Republican period, this Peking style rug showcases the sophisticated blend of traditional Eastern iconography with emerging Western Art Deco sensibilities. The composition avoids the dense patterning of earlier periods, favoring open space and a deliberate simplicity that highlights the quality of the wool and the depth of the dye work.
