Antique Peking Room Size Wool Beige Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century weaving exemplifies the refined aesthetic favored by the Imperial court and affluent households of Beijing during the late Qing Dynasty. The Peking style is renowned for its restrained palette and emphasis on open space, distinguishing it from other antique rugs of the period. The expansive central field is rendered in a luminous, soft wool, creating a tranquil backdrop that maximizes the sense of light and space. Scattered across this plane are delicate, stylized floral sprays and branches, executed in subtle shades of pale blue, rust, and peach. This composition avoids a central medallion, allowing the eye to appreciate the purity of the beige color and the elegant simplicity of the motifs. A striking, multi-layered border system frames the composition.
