Antique Peking Room Size Wool Beige, Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional Chinese textile exemplifies the restrained elegance characteristic of early 20th-century Peking weaving. The expansive field of soft, luminous beige provides a perfect counterpoint to the dramatic border, making it an ideal room size rug for grand interiors. The design centers on a large, intricately detailed oval medallion, rendered primarily in deep indigo and subtle terracotta tones. This masterful deployment of color highlights the importance of blue color rugs in traditional Chinese design, where the hue often symbolizes immortality and high rank. The expansive, uncluttered field emphasizes the purity of the wool and the sophistication of the palette. A robust, wide border frames the composition, featuring continuous scrolling vines and stylized floral elements set against a rich navy ground.
