Antique Peking Oversized Large Oversized Big Rug Wool Blue, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving represents the peak of the refined tradition found in Chinese rugs. The deep, saturated field, characteristic of the Peking style, provides a dramatic canvas for the scattered, delicate motifs. The expansive field is rendered in a magnificent, almost midnight blue color, providing depth and contrast to the subtle gold and ivory detailing. At the center, a striking circular motif functions as a central medallion, depicting a stylized phoenix and dragon in harmonious balance, symbols of auspicious union. Given its impressive dimensions, this piece qualifies as a truly oversized big rug, suitable for grand, formal interiors where scale is paramount.
