Antique Peking Chinese Allover Blue 1930s Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional Chinese textile captures the dramatic iconography of imperial tradition, featuring two powerful, confronting dragons emerging from a dense field of stylized Ruyi clouds. The careful symmetry and mythological density of the design speak to the highest level of courtly influence. The palette is a sophisticated study in tonal variation, utilizing deep indigo and cerulean shades to create depth and movement across the field. This masterful use of a restricted color scheme elevates the piece, making it a striking example among blue color rugs that prioritize texture and motif over chromatic complexity. Below the celestial scene, the composition anchors itself with the traditional depiction of mountains rising above the turbulent Lishui wave pattern—a symbol of eternal stability and the cosmos.
