Antique Oversized Yellow Chinese Art Deco Floral Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1935. This exceptional piece captures the height of the Art Deco movement in East Asia, blending traditional motifs with the streamlined aesthetic popular during the 1930s. The craftsmanship inherent in these Chinese rugs is evident in the quality of the wool and the depth of the dye. The expansive field is rendered in a vibrant yellow hue, providing a dramatic backdrop for the sparse, naturalistic design elements. Its impressive scale classifies it within the oversized format, making it an ideal anchor piece for a grand living space or formal dining room, commanding attention without overwhelming the surrounding décor. Unlike heavily bordered classical carpets, this design utilizes negative space masterfully, allowing scattered clusters of bamboo and blossoms to float across the field.
