Antique Oversized Chinese - Peking Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving presents the refined aesthetic typical of Chinese rugs produced during the late Qing Dynasty period. The expansive, open field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo, establishing a powerful foundation for the design, making it a prime specimen among blue color rugs. The design adheres closely to the elegant, restrained style characteristic of peking rugs, utilizing a sparse yet deliberate placement of auspicious naturalistic motifs. Weavers employed creamy tan and subtle navy accents to depict stylized pheasants, flowering branches, and bamboo stalks floating gracefully across the deep ground.
