Antique Oversized Chinese - Art Deco Wool Room Size Purple Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving bridges traditional Chinoiserie elegance with the nascent Art Deco aesthetic. It is a remarkable piece among antique rugs, distinguished by its sophisticated scale and unusual coloration. The expansive central field presents a nuanced, dusty purple hue, offering a subtle backdrop for the design. While nominally a purple color piece—referencing the tones in the accents and border—the overall impression is one of muted sophistication, perfectly capturing the transitional color sensibilities of the 1920s. Woven in a generous room size format, this carpet commands attention without overwhelming the space.
