Antique N.W. Persian Blue 1890s Hallway Runner Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional example of weaving from the late 19th century showcases the robust, tribal aesthetic characteristic of the N.W. Persian weaving tradition, known for its durable construction and rich, saturated dyes. The deep indigo field provides a powerful backdrop for the complex design work, anchoring the piece with a classic, versatile palette. The use of natural dyes ensures that the saturated blue color rugs retain their depth and character, offering a visual richness that only age can enhance. A series of medallions and stylized elements run vertically along the length of the runner. These highly stylized motifs utilize strong, defined lines, placing this piece firmly within the category of finely executed geometric rugs, displaying the weaver's skill in translating complex patterns into knot work.
