Antique Native American Navajo Small Scatter Size Wool Grey Rug, Country of Origin: Native American Rugs, Circa Date: 1920s. This early 20th-century weaving exemplifies the powerful geometric aesthetic developed by the Navajo people, showcasing a mastery of composition and natural dye usage characteristic of the period. Despite its small scatter size, the visual impact of this piece is substantial. The composition is distinctly divided into two fields, both dominated by stacked diamond motifs executed in a vibrant palette of cochineal red, deep earth tones, and the striking grey color rugs that anchor the design. The intricate, serrated edges of the central diamonds create a dynamic visual tension, while the borders feature classic stepped and zigzag elements rendered in contrasting colors.
