Antique American Multicolor Checkerboard Pattern Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 38 x 44 inches (3'2" x 3'8"). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The design features a striking, geometric checkerboard field, utilizing an allover pattern that extends edge-to-edge without a central medallion. The individual square motifs are rendered in a sophisticated multicolor palette of muted slate, pale lavender, dusty mint, and deep charcoal, giving the impression of faded, well-loved fabric. Condition: Good.
