Antique Luri Persian Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of nomadic weaving originates from the Luri tribes of Persia, showcasing the raw authenticity inherent in true antique rugs. The dense, durable pile and rich, saturated dyes speak to a heritage of practical artistry. The central field is dominated by a striking, deep indigo, providing a dramatic backdrop for the complex geometric motifs. The use of natural dyes creates a subtle abrash, enhancing the depth characteristic of blue color rugs and contrasting beautifully with the warm terracotta tones of the main border. The composition utilizes a highly stylized, repeating diamond trellis that forms an allover rugs pattern, a favored structure among tribal weavers. Within this framework, abstract star motifs and stylized archaic symbols are meticulously rendered, reflecting traditional Luri iconography.
