Antique Large Ningxia Chinese Allover Floral Hand Knotted Pile Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent example of a ningxia rug captures the elegance and restraint characteristic of late Qing Dynasty weaving. The scale of the piece immediately establishes it as a commanding presence suitable for grand interiors, reflecting the high standards of production from this esteemed region. The expansive field is rendered in a soft, luminous ivory ground, providing a perfect canvas for the scattered floral and geometric motifs. These elements are executed primarily in rich indigo blue and warm terracotta, colors often favored in Chinese rugs of this period for their striking contrast and symbolic meaning, ensuring the design remains vibrant yet harmonious.
