Antique Large Malayer Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional Iranian / Persian rugs piece, originating from the Hamadan region, showcases the subtle sophistication characteristic of early 20th-century weaving. Its expansive field is dominated by a gentle, faded celadon blue ground. The field features a complex, repeating medallion and vine pattern. Although categorized by its title as a geometric rug, the design utilizes highly stylized floral elements, rendered in oxidized copper and ochre tones. This striking contrast against the pale, ethereal ground makes it a superb example of blue color rugs from the period. Given its generous dimensions, this piece functions perfectly as a room size rug, capable of anchoring a formal living space or dining hall with understated elegance.
