Antique Large Chinese Purple Baotou Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional Chinese runner, originating from the Baotou region, showcases the refined aesthetic typical of early 20th-century weaving. It is a striking example of the enduring quality found in antique rugs from this period, characterized by its dense knotting and sophisticated use of traditional motifs. The field is saturated with a stunning, faded purple hue, creating a dramatic visual depth. This sophisticated palette, unusual for the time, allows the viewer to appreciate the rich texture of the purple color rugs, which contrasts beautifully with the aged beige and tan tones of the border system. The design utilizes an intricate diamond grid, populated by subtle floral or symbolic medallions, creating an uninterrupted allover effect across the length of the piece.
