Antique Kazak Caucasian Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of kazak rugs showcases the robust, deeply saturated palette characteristic of 19th-century weaving from the Caucasus region. Its powerful geometric design and durable construction confirm its status as a highly desirable piece among antique rugs. The central column commands attention with its rich field of deep indigo, providing a dramatic contrast to the ivory and rust tones of the surrounding motifs. This masterful use of saturated color, especially the vibrant primary blue color rugs, is a hallmark of the finest village weaving traditions and speaks to the quality of the natural dyes employed. The composition is structured around three distinct vertical registers, featuring repeating stylized octagons and cross motifs that run the length of the piece.
