Antique Chinese - Art Deco Chinese Blue 1930s Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This magnificent piece is a superb example of the Art Deco movement as interpreted by Chinese weavers during the 1930s. The bold coloration and symbolic density elevate it beyond typical period pieces, making it a highly desirable addition to any collection of antique rugs. The field is dominated by a rich, saturated teal, a highly fashionable shade during the interwar period. This striking presence among blue color rugs provides a dramatic backdrop for the stylized motifs rendered in salmon pink, mauve, and soft gold. The contrast is sharp yet harmonious, reflecting the sophisticated palette choices of the era. The design features powerful, sinuous dragons—symbols of imperial power and good fortune—intertwined within a central medallion and repeated in flanking pairs.
