Antique Donegal - Arts & Crafts Oversized Room Size Wool Red Rug, Country of Origin: Ireland, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the height of the Irish weaving revival, showcasing the bold, stylized naturalism characteristic of the donegal Arts & Crafts aesthetic that defined early 20th-century design. The monumental scale of this carpet makes it a true statement piece, suitable for grand interiors requiring a substantial room size format. The field is dominated by a vibrant, saturated shade of deep red, expertly balanced by complementary secondary tones, lending the composition an immediate visual authority. The all-over pattern presents a highly abstracted garden scene, featuring stylized blossoming trees and large, architecturally rendered floral medallions.
