Antique Oushak Turkish Ivory 1890s Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent late 19th-century weaving exemplifies the grand scale and sophisticated palette characteristic of the Oushak region. The expansive field is rendered in a luminous ivory foundation, providing a perfect counterpoint to the warm secondary hues of coral, saffron, and muted sage. The design features large, highly stylized palmettes and sweeping vine work, typical of the decorative revival styles popular at the turn of the century. These bold, oversized elements create an elegant allover pattern that minimizes the need for a central medallion, allowing the eye to traverse the entire surface without interruption. Oushak rugs from this period are highly sought after for their softer wool and architectural scale, making them ideal complements to both traditional and modern interiors.
