Antique Coral Kashan - Mohtasham Persian Floral, Medallion Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional piece represents the pinnacle of late 19th-century Persian weaving, specifically attributed to the master workshops of Mohtasham in Kashan. The complexity of the knotting and the refinement of the design distinguish it among other antique rugs. The field is dominated by a breathtaking Coral hue, softened over time to a subtle radiance, which provides a dramatic contrast to the dense, dark indigo spandrels. The central lobed medallion anchors the composition, radiating intricate arabesques and delicate floral sprays that define the celebrated Mohtasham aesthetic. The sophisticated border system comprises multiple guard stripes framing a wide main band filled with repeating palmettes and stylized foliage.
