Antique Coral Chinese Square Ningxia Geometric Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the unique aesthetic of ningxia rugs, known for their bold geometric compositions and strong, saturated color palettes. It is a striking example of early 20th-century weaving from the region, demonstrating a sophisticated use of traditional motifs. This compact, square antique rug classifies it among the finest small scatter size rugs, perfectly suited for use as a decorative wall hanging or a sophisticated accent piece in a study or library. The dense knotting and high-quality wool speak to the durability expected of pieces produced during this transitional period of Chinese textile history. The palette is dominated by a rich indigo blue set against a field of warm coral and cream, creating a vibrant contrast characteristic of period Chinese rugs.
