Antique Classic Anchor Medallion Design Tribal Room Size Persian Bidjar Rug

Antique Bijar Room Size Wool Brown Rug, Circa Date: 1870s. This exceptional example of a Bijar weaving, known historically as the "Iron Rug of Persia" for its dense structure, presents a magnificent central medallion grounded in deep indigo and framed by dramatic corner spandrels. The field is dominated by a warm, oxidized khaki that reads as a sophisticated brown earth tone, providing a perfect backdrop for the complex design. The overall pattern is defined by an intricate arrangement of stylized floral rugs and palmettes, scattered across the field in secondary shades of madder red, sky blue, and ivory. Woven in a generous room size, this piece retains the characteristic heavy, robust handle expected of the finest Kurdish weavings.
